Rule #5:
“NEVER LET A FRIEND’S GLASS BE EMPTY”
It’s considered rude to fill your own glass. Instead, your friends at the table should fill it for you, and likewise, you should fill your friend’s glasses for them. There’s a saying- “never let a friend’s glass be empty.” This encourages the spirit of togetherness and teamwork that pervades Korean drinking culture- and makes things a lot more fun.

A glass should be refilled as soon as it is empty- but never until it’s completely empty. If you’ve had your fill of drink, it’s important to not finish your current glass, or someone will most likely refill it.

While a glass can be refilled on the table, if someone offers you a refill it’s polite to take the glass and place it in your left hand, while using your right hand to hold it steady. If an elder is doing the pouring, it’s polite to slightly bow your head and use both hands on the glass to receive it.
