Rule #7:
THE EMPTY GLASS
Sometimes, an elder will offer their empty glass to you. This is considered a great honor. Once they offer you the glass, they will fill it for you, and you are expected to drink it. You shouldn’t finish it all in one gulp, but it’s considered rude not to take at least a sip immediately upon being served. Don’t delay in finishing it, though- holding someone else’s glass for a long time is rude (because it means they can’t drink), so finish quickly, return the glass, and refill it. If you have established a close relationship, you can also offer your glass to a superior.
